Travel TV WITH Stephanie Abrams Episode 8:

“Castle Hopping” is a term that media travel expert Stephanie Abrams invented to define the concept of visiting castles and historic homes by day and staying in castles and historic homes that provide accommodations for travelers. This concept evolved during one of her visits to Ireland where, after a day of visiting Dromoland and Bunratty Castles in Co. Clare and King John’s Castle in Limerick, she checked into the glamorous, ultra-contemporary hotel, ‘the g,’ in Galway. The shift in gears from the day’s historic visits to entering the g hotel Stephanie described as similar to leaving a sauna and jumping into a snow bank! In short, it was shocking. “The parts of the day did not fit together well,” Stephanie notes. “Something like having won-ton soup followed by nachos!” And from that experience, the concept of Castle Hopping was born which Stephanie defines as, not just visiting one castle after another, something like pub-crawling, but visiting historic castles and historic homes by day and then staying in a castle or historic home lodging at night.
